Diagnostic Hearing Evaluations: Only an audiologist has the education and knowledge to provide a diagnostic hearing evaluation—the foundation of a good hearing care plan. Dr. Keessen ensures that a proper diagnosis and treatment plan is made for each of her patients.
Pediatric Evaluations: Dr. Keessen has extensive experience evaluating the hearing of patients of all ages. We recommend a diagnostic hearing evaluation if you have any concerns about your child’s hearing or speech. Dr. Keessen will work closely with the parents and, if necessary, other professionals to ensure effective and timely treatments are in place.
Hearing Aid Consultations: If hearing aids are recommended, a hearing aid consultation and communication needs assessment will be performed after your hearing evaluation. This time is set aside to develop a plan of care with Dr. Keessen. In conjunction with the results of your hearing evaluation and your individual communication goals, she will help you determine whether hearing aids or other assistive listening devices are appropriate for you. Dr. Keessen will thoroughly explain your options in amplification and assistive listening devices as well as the fitting and follow-up care that is provided to ensure that you are successful with amplification devices you select. We will call your insurance to determine your insurance benefits and this will be reviewed with you. You will have ample time to ask questions about your options and to make a well-informed decision.
Hearing Aid Fittings: Dr. Keessen uses best practices protocol when fitting each hearing aid. Computerized programming and real ear measures are used to ensure that each fitting is tailored for your hearing loss needs.
Aural Rehabilitation Counseling: Aural rehabilitation counseling is an essential part of treating hearing loss. Dr. Keessen will guide you though the process of using your hearing aids and assistive listening devices so that you will function effectively in a variety of environments. Family members are encouraged to be involved in this important process.
